Operation Clean Sweep 2018

‘Haul it all away’ were the instructions for the day! Gateway Pet Guardians volunteers spent the morning helping out at Operation Clean Sweep in East St. Louis. East Side Pet Crisis Fund: Taco’s Story

Taco was attacked by a large dog this week. Luckily, volunteers were nearby and jumped into action, breaking up the attack and rushing him to a partner vet. Taco’s mom recently lost her job because of an injury, and couldn’t afford vet care. But thankfully, she has us in her corner and we are supporting her in this time of need.

Alyvia and Alicia’s Rescue

Alyvia and her sister, Alicia, were being cared for by a community cat caretaker in East St. Louis. We received a frantic call from her stating Alyvia was hit by a car and not using her front paw. She was a very sick kitten, with a 105+ temperature and battling a massive infection from the open wound. Alyvia’s leg needed amputated to save her life. Watch her rescue video below!

This is King. His dad called in a panic because he became very sick, very fast. We worked together to get him into a vet, where we discovered the poor puppy had lepto. Leptospirosis is a disease caused by infection with bacteria, and his body was working overtime to fight off this infection, but failing. We put him on supportive care to help him fight the infection, but sadly it wasn’t enough. H…
