In December, BISSELL Pet Foundation awarded the Gateway Pet Guardians Community Outreach Program a BISSELL Pet Foundation Partners Grant to help fund spay/neuter surgeries for owned pets in the Metro East. The Foundation assists animal welfare organizations with the ultimate goal of reducing the number of animals in shelters and rescues through pet adoption, spay/neuter programs, microchipping and foster care.

Due to the high levels of poverty in the Metro East St. Louis area, and the lack of veterinary clinics or even pet stores in that same area, many East St. Louis pet owners are unable to afford or access basic veterinary services. The Gateway Pet Guardians Spay/Neuter Program provides access to free spay/neuter services in the Metro East, as well as transportation to and from their surgeries. With the $7,500 grant from BISSELL Pet Foundation, our Spay/Neuter Program will be able to fix an additional 130 pets in 2018! Thank you, BISSELL Pet Foundation!
