Becky Krueger
Board Member, Board of Directors

Becky KruegerBecky Krueger is a new face to Gateway Pet Guardians. She has been a board member since March, 2014. Her favorite thing about her position in GPG is that she is able to use her experience in animal welfare to help the organization as it continues to grow and to help the people and pets of East St. Louis. Becky knows what it’s like to work with pets who have had a rough start, and she knows the challenges of trying to educate a community on proper pet care. Her hope is that she can support the volunteers and staff of GPG any way she can!

Becky has worked in various roles in animal welfare for over 10 years. She started as an animal care volunteer at a shelter outside of Birmingham, Alabama. That volunteer role turned into a part-time job, which then turned into a full-time job. She was fortunate to eventually work in shelters in Wisconsin and St. Louis. Now, she is extremely excited to be a part of GPG!

Becky and her husband have two kids, two cats, and one dog. Their cats are named after famous baseball players – Joe and Maris. Their dog Mikey, who lives to torment their cats and kids, was a failed foster. He was a stray and had been hit by a car. He had fleas, worms, and fly bites covering his ears. He only walked on three legs because of his injury and had to have corrective surgery. Becky was supposed to foster him long enough for him to heal, but when the time came, she couldn’t give him up. He was a part of the family.

We are extremely excited to have Becky on board as one of our leaders on the Board of Directors. Her years of experience will prove invaluable as she helps GPG grow. We look forward to seeing the great things she has in store for this amazing organization!
