Miss Sasha at the Camp Kesem FundraiserThe adoptable dogs at Gateway Pet Guardians love supporting local charities every opportunity they get. Last night, three of our adoptables visited St. Louis University for an event supporting Camp Kesem, a national collegiate, non-profit organization that supports children through and beyond a parent’s cancer. Camp Kesem offers a free, week-long summer camp for children ages 6-16 in the St. Louis area. This upcoming summer will be their third camp hosted as a chapter and they hope to support between 60 and 75 children, a large increase from their 38 campers last summer!

In order to provide a week-long camp free of charge to all their campers, their dedicated counselors work year-round to raise the needed funds. When our rescue pups learned that they could play a part in helping them reach their goal, they couldn’t resist! Maisey, Miss Sasha, and Popeye attended their Canines for Kesem fundraiser, and snuggled with and loved on over 100 college students! SLU’s chapter was able to raise enough money to send two children to camp for an entire free week!

We were so excited to help this group of young adults make a difference, and can’t thank them enough for including us in their work. Visit their website to learn more about their organization. And if you feel like adding one of these compassionate, loving rescue pups to your life, visit ours!
