Whitney's looking for a foster home or forever home!!

Monday’s Featured Shelter Dog is Whitney!! She’s an incredibly beautiful American Bulldog/Terrier Mix who is approximately 4 years & 8 months old. She’s sweet & loving and will brighten your day when she flashes you her happy smile! Whitney was on our feeding route for years and we were thrilled when we were able to rescue her. Now she’s staying at our Shelter until she finds a foster home or forever home. Our Shelter Staff have been helping her learn how to be comfortable with people and she thanks them with big smiles and snuggles!

Whitney is house trained, crate trained, spayed, microchipped, current on her shots and on heartworm preventative and flea & tick protection. She’s a special girl who is looking for a forever home that is patient & loving and will respect her boundaries & give her time to adjust. She would be happiest as the only pet in the house and although she gets along nicely with kids, we think she’d prefer a forever home with children over 12 years old.

This sweet girl spent a lot of time alone so she’s shy when she first meets people. She will warm up to them, it will just take a little time and it’s really worth the wait! She was in a foster home for two weeks and her foster mom worked with her daily, helping build Whitney’s trust and teaching her to be comfortable in her surroundings and they formed a close bond. She used to be scared of men and she grew to trust her foster dad and within two weeks, he was able to wrap his arms around her! And, she was running to the door when he came home after work to greet him, give him kisses and get some lovings! Whitney loves it when her former foster mom visits her and spends time with her at the shelter. She gives her kisses and snuggles and they spend a few hours together. She’s really come a long way and it’s wonderful seeing how much progress she’s made!

Whitney recently found out the joys of getting her butt rubbed and she can’t get enough! Give her a few of those and some belly rubs and she’s one happy girl! When she’s not getting rubs or snuggling one of the Shelter Staff, this pretty lady likes to relax on a soft, comfortable bed or chew on rawhides. She likes having a ball rolled towards her, she’ll grab it and bring it back and she has a great time running around outside and spending time relaxing in a dog house. Watch Whitney run around and be playful!

Whitney’s pretty smart and knows the words come on, leave alone and no-no. She knows how to sit if you give her a treat, especially hot dogs or turkey, which are her favorites.  And, when she’s being spoken to, she has the cutest expression on her face, as if she’s listening really hard and memorizing everything that’s being said, it’s so adorable!

Whitney loves our Shelter Staff but she’d be so much happier in a foster home until she finds her forever home. If you’d like to give this beautiful girl a temporary home, Become A Gateway Pet Guardians Foster.
