MelissaA letter from GPG Volunteer Coordinator Melissa Stiles

I joined Gateway Pet Guardians just over two years ago. I started out as a puppy foster, began attending events, meeting new people, and learning more about GPG. I fell in love with the entire group. Since the beginning, I knew I wanted to give more to the group, but wasn’t sure what I could do or where I would fit. GPG suddenly found itself without a volunteer coordinator so they needed somebody to step in and cover a few adoption events. Within just a few short months, I landed the position of Volunteer Coordinator. I have spent the past year and a half helping grow the volunteer side of this amazing organization, with much success, thanks to our wonderful volunteers!

Volunteering with Gateway Pet Guardians is, without question, one of the most gratifying things I have ever done in my life. It’s a great way to meet new people, network, and most importantly, help stray dogs and cats, as directly or indirectly as you desire. Volunteering is one of the most important roles with GPG. Without our awesome volunteers, we couldn’t hold adoption events or host fundraisers, and we certainly wouldn’t have donations of all types coming in to help our group succeed.

If you already volunteer with GPG, great! We look forward to hearing from you again in the very near future. If you haven’t jumped on board yet, it’s never too late! We are hosting a Volunteer Winter Warm Up and we ask that ALL of our volunteers join us. Whether you are a well-seasoned volunteer or brand new to the group, whether you attend events, or help with the clerical side, please plan to join us on Saturday, January 28, 2012, for this very informative gathering. GPG is growing by leaps and bounds and is making many positive changes we want all of you to be a part of in the future! Bring a friend who might be interested, too. The more, the merrier! (Time and place are yet to be determined, but will be announced very soon.)

I look forward to seeing all of you in 2012 and beyond!
